Episode 2: RC Sproul: A Life by Stephen Nichols

In this second episode of the Berean Bookclub we talk though the first published biography of R.C. Sproul.

This book, written by close friend and colleague Stephen Nichols, starts with Sproul's early life and recounts the significance of certain moments and influences for the path of his life and ministry. It outlines Sproul's legacy as a theologian as focuses in on his contributions to the inerrancey conversation, his love for classical apologetics, his passion for the holiness of God and his convictions on justification by faith alone and imputation. Finally, the books shifts to the later part of R.C.'s life as he takes up a pastorate and founds a bible college. This book is about a man's unmovable conviction of the holiness of God and how this single conviction motivated his entire ministry. It is encouraginng, challenging and surprisingly emboldening.

In this episode we discuss the challenge of conviction in the Christian life, the effectiveness of clarity and precision in communication, the struggle between ambiguity and certainty in God's word, the beauties and necessities of gospel partnerships and the function of theology for ordinary people.
