Ep6. The Emotional Life of our Lord by B.B Warfield

In this sixth episode of The Berean Bookclub we talk through an essay by B.B. Warfield: The Emotional Life of Our Lord. Warfield was a theologian who lived at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. He wrote extensively on many subjects, perhaps most famously on the doctrine of scripture, but among many others wrote this essay on the emotional life of Christ in 1912. In this essay, he focuses on Jesus' humanity as he looks at three of his emotions: compassion, anger and sorrow, showing how these aspects contribute to a more glorious portrait of our savior. Warfield's intention is to draw us in further with Christ's beauty expressed through his humanity. This old classic will enhance your appreciation of Christ as he seeks to glorify God through his incarnation.

In this episode, we discuss the tendencies to portray Christ as either unsympathetic or unworthy of reverence, Jesus' compassion drawn out by our helplessness, the connection Jesus' emotions have with his mission and what lies behind Christ's anger.
